BJP MLA from Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, Bheema Mandavi was killed in a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by naxals on Tuesday. According to the police, the BJP leader was returning from a public meeting at Bacheli and was heading towards Nakulnar when the rebels ambushed his convoy.

According to the police, the encounter between the security forces and the naxals broke out when the personnel were out on anti- naxal exercise

Deputy inspector general (anti- naxal operations) Sundarraj P said that the gun battle took place at Karkanguda forest of Chintalnar-Jagargunda area close to the border of Sukma and Bijapur at 6 am on Tuesday
 

A CRPF jawan was injured in the gun battle with the naxals in the Pedabayalu mandal of Visakhapatnam . He was later shifted to the hospital and is receiving treatment for his wounds. 

A total of 10 bodies of naxals and 11 weapons have been recovered by the forces from the Bharamgarh area of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh. Additional personnel have been deployed in the area to counter any retaliatory attack by Maoists.
