National Water Hero  

In the year 2017, Shipra Pathak, famously known as ‘Water Woman,’ left everything behind to devote herself to the cause of water conservation. Remarkably, she has already planted 15 lakh saplings. She aims to plant a total of 1 crore saplings across India.

Some 15 years ago, Nand Kishore Verma had the opportunity of meeting Sunderlal Bahuguna, a renowned environmentalist and key figure in the Chipko movement, at a book fair in Lucknow. Inspired by him, he gave up his second means of income and gained knowledge about water and environmental protection. In 2021, he was honoured with the ‘National Water Hero’ award.

Nand Kishore Verma met Sunder Lal Bahuguna in a book fair. He got influenced by Bahuguna’s great personality and decided to become an environmentalist himself. He gave up his second means of income and focused on getting trained to gain knowledge about water and environmental protection. In 2021, he was honoured with the ‘National Water Hero’ award.
