It’s a proud moment for India as Chandrayaan-2 will soft-land on the lunar surface of the moon in a few hours from now. It was launched on July 22.

History will be made on Saturday as India’s Chandrayaan-2 will land on the moon. India will become the fourth country after US, Russia and China to accomplish the mission  

As India’s pride Chandrayaan-2 is set to make a historic landing on the lunar surface, here’s a small writeup on the age of the moon. 

The surface of the moon is filled with craters, highlands, wetlands and mountains as well. 

Exactly fifty years ago, Apollo 11 landed on the surface of the moon, making it the first manned mission to reach the earth’s natural satellite. 

 A successful landing will make India the fourth country (after Russia, US and China) to achieve a soft landing on the moon.

ISRO is gearing up for the crucial landing of ‘Vikram’ - Chandrayaan 2’s moon lander. It is expected to be carried out by 8 people in coordination. The landing is a much awaited event that will be witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru. Students from across the country are also expected to watch it alongside PM Modi.

While ISRO scientists wait for the soft-landing of Chandrayaan 2’s Vikram lander on the moon, scientists now recall the nail-biting experience during the launch of India’s first lunar mission. 
 

The Chandrayaan-2 is getting closer to the moon as it has successfully completed all its orbit manoeuvres. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum. India and Pakistan have agreed on visa-free travel through the Kartarpur Corridor

The Chandrayaan-2 mission has completed all its orbit manoeuvres around the moon.  ISRO now aims to create history by making India the first nation to reach close to the moon's south pole in its first attempt.

Three students from states like Odisha, Jharkhand and Meghalaya will witness the moon landing on September 7 along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The students qualified an online quiz contest conducted by ISRO.

Rashi Verma, a class 10 student from Lucknow will be witnessing the historic moment of Chandrayaan-2 landing on Moon’s surface on September 7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also witness the historic moment.

More than a month after its launch, Chandrayaan 2 has been sending images of the moon’s craters. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) released more pictures of the satellite on Monday.
