While North Karnataka and Maharashtra witnessed massive flooding due to the overflow of water from rivers, 41 Navy teams were deployed in difficult terrains in the flood-hit states

Rains wreak havoc not only in Karnataka and Kerala but also in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The death toll in Maharashtra has touched 35 while and 31 in Gujarat. Maharashtra also witnessed an incident of boat capsize that took the lives of 17 people.
 

Floods and torrential rains in Kerala have left as many as 72 people dead. The NDRF are working round the clock in rescue operations. The situation in Karnataka remains grim and those living close to dams have been relocated. 

Hundreds have lost their lives and thousands have been displaced owing to torrential rains and floods across India. With rains predicted to worsen in the coming days, the government has ordered military teams to form rescue units.

Rain fury claimed around 26 lives in Maharashtra, including 21 in a wall collapse in Mumbai, while the authorities declared a holiday in the city and adjoining regions, asking people to avoid stepping out of their houses.

Bengaluru was left battered after 27 mm of rainfall with gusty winds that uprooted over 200 trees and brought down many branches and electric poles in several parts of the city on May 26. The BBMP has still not been able to clear the trees, causing inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians.
