In 2010, the United Nations decided to recognise Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's birth date (October 15) as World Student Day.

The United Nations Organisation (UNO) had declared the former President APJ Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary as World Student Day. APJ Kalam was the 11th President of India and was a motivational figure to many. 

In what comes as a major boost for the Indian Army, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully flight-tested the Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) system.

APJ Abdul Kalam’s brother and relatives paid their respects to the former President (fondly known as Missile Man) at his memorial in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. The memorial was decorated with flowers and people gathered around it to remember Kalam on his death anniversary.
