Five people have lost their lives due to the rains in Kerala in the last five days. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kannur and Kasaragod districts for Tuesday and educational institutions in the two districts and in Malappuram remained closed today.

Seven fishermen out of the eight who ventured into the sea from Vizhinjam and Neendakkara were reported missing. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red alert in three districts of Kerala and predicted heavy rains in the state.  The red alert was issued for Idukki district from July 18 to 20, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts for July 19.

New Delhi: Cyclone Vayu is expected to hit India’s western coast soon and Gujarat has been put on high alert. Cyclone Vayu has been classified under category 2 cyclone by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The department also said that the Cyclone is very likely to cross the Gujarat coast between Veraval and Diu by early morning on June 13. IMD also said the Cyclone would hit the regions of Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat with winds blowing at speeds of 145 kmph to 170 kmph by Thursday morning. Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Rajkot, Junagarh, Diu, Gir Somnath, Amreli and Bhavnagar districts are expected to be worst affected by cyclone Vayu

A yellow alert has been issued in 10 districts of Kerala on June 11. Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts of Kerala are indicated to have heavy rains. The Indian Meteorological Department also announced an orange alert in these three districts on June 12.
