Mekedatu Reservoir  

The Karnataka government assures that severe water problems occurring in the city will soon be solved. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also acknowledged that the borewell at his house has dried up, but he guaranteed a sufficient supply.
 

Chief minister of Tamil Nadu K Palaniswami has sought the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in prevailing upon Karnataka not to go ahead with its plan of constructing a reservoir near Mekedatu, in Kanakapura, Karnataka. 

Tamil Nadu is against the project as the reservoir will be built on River Cauvery that provides water to Tamil Nadu too. Karnataka activist Vatal Nagaraj has demanded the start of work immediately on Mekedatu project.

 

Karnataka is pushing for Mekedatu dam on Cauvery River and it is said that the water flowing back into the sea can be stored in this dam and used when there is less rain. But Tamil Nadu is not happy  with the construction of Mekedatu dam.
