Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the latter’s birthday. Dr. Manmohan Singh was born on September 26, 1932, in Punjab's village of Gah before partition.

Former Union finance minister P Chidamabram was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on August 21 in Delhi and is currently in Tihar jail. 
                    

Minister of state for Finance & Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur has blamed former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former finance minister P Chidambaram for the economic slowdown that India is facing.

In a tweet put by the Indian National Congress, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has blamed the Narendra Modi government’s policies for the economic sluggishness (including demonetisation). Reacting to the allegations, the BJP has hit back saying demonetisation has helped improve tax collections. 

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will not enjoy Special Protection Group cover henceforth. The withdrawal comes into effect after the Central Armed Police Forces takes over the responsibility. The CAPF will continue to give him Z-plus security.
