Mahatma Gandhi Birth Anniversary  

PM Modi addressed a gathering in Ahmedabad today on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary and said, the world can see that India is at the forefront of several positive changes taking place at the world stage.

On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the entire nation has joined hands with PM Modi's initiative of making India single-use plastic-free.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres praised Mahatma Gandhi and said that he pioneered non-violent movements that changed history. Gandhi’s birth anniversary is observed as International Day of Non-Violence. 

October 2, 2019 marks Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary and the nation has woken up to pay tributes to the Father of the Nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the nation and declare the country open defecation free. 

Prime Minister Modi suggested that these padayatras can be conducted between October 2 and January 30, the birth and death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
