The monsoon is finally hitting India and is providing much-needed relief from the scorching summer. Here are some offbeat destinations in India to visit this monsoon for a relaxing getaway. 

Incessant rains caused floods in parts of Maharashtra wherein Sangli and Kolhapur districts were the worst-hit. The chief minister of the state, Devendra Fadnavis has sought Rs 6,813 crore as relief fund from the Centre owing to the mass destruction.

Rains wreak havoc not only in Karnataka and Kerala but also in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The death toll in Maharashtra has touched 35 while and 31 in Gujarat. Maharashtra also witnessed an incident of boat capsize that took the lives of 17 people.

In Mumbai’s neighbouring Palghar district a 16-year-old boy was washed away by floods. Heavy rains led to water levels rising over tracks in some sections, resulting in the suspension of train services between Vasai and Virar towns, a Western Railway official said.
