The Centre and the lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi had contended that if the situation prevailing before the high court's verdict was not restored, the Union territory's administration was likely to come to a standstill.

Earlier, the Madras high court had claimed that Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi "cannot interfere" in the day-to-day affairs of the elected government in Puducherry

Following the Madras high court verdict over administrative control, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has challenged it and moved the apex court.

 

Puducherry CM demanded that Kiran Bedi resign from her post of lieutenant governor, saying that she has no right to interfere in the everyday functioning as stated by the Madras high court

 

The high court had laid down very clearly that the Lt Governor had no powers to act independently and that she must work "in tandem with the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers," he told reporters here

Lt Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi took authorities to task for staling water supply to farmer for six years.

Kiran Bedi also said that with the absence of local bodies, the Union Territory Puducherry was losing several rewards from the central government
 

Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi alleged that AIADMK MLA Anbalagan went beyond the reasonable time when there was a long programme to follow and he rejected the request to stop and continued to be rude.
