BJP activists staged protests in Kolkata to raise their voice against a hike in electricity rates. The protests were led by party leaders Sayantan Basu, Raju Banerjee and Locket Chatterjee. The police resorted to water cannons to control the protesters. 

BJP MP Roopa Ganguly’s son rammed his car into a wall in an alleged inebriated condition and has been arrested. However, the BJP MP has come out in defence of her son. There was no report of any injury as several people present at the spot scampered to safety on time.

Ishrat Jahan, a member of the BJP in Kolkata was verbally abused and even threatened, simply because she had attended a Hindu function.
