Following the Madras high court verdict over administrative control, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has challenged it and moved the apex court.

The high court had laid down very clearly that the Lt Governor had no powers to act independently and that she must work "in tandem with the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers," he told reporters here
 

 The Madras high court ordered Kiran Bedi not to interfere in the elected government of the Union territory's day-to-day affairs. The petitioner Lakshminarayanan submitted that there were political differences between the elected Government of Puducherry and the Centre.

After cancelling a meeting with the chief minister of Puducherry within 24 hours of calling for it, governor Kiran Bedi was seen cycling around Raj Nivas while the CM and his loyalists sat outside in protest.
