Kerala Red Alert  

Red alert has been issued in Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts for August 8. The Palakkad district collector has announced a holiday for schools and other educational institutions on Tuesday (August 6)
 

Five people have lost their lives due to the rains in Kerala in the last five days. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Kannur and Kasaragod districts for Tuesday and educational institutions in the two districts and in Malappuram remained closed today.

Red alert has been issued in Idukki district on Sunday (July 21) and Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram districts for July 22. Four people have died in various rain related tragedies in the last four days

 

Kerala’s Kozhikode district has recorded 150mm of rains and the district faces a flood-like situation. Last year, thousands of people had lost their homes along with their hopes during floods that ravaged Kerala
 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued red alert in three districts of Kerala and predicted heavy rains in the state.  The red alert was issued for Idukki district from July 18 to 20, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts for July 19.
 

Met Centre has predicted that heavy (7-11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy (12-20 cm in 24 hours) rainfall is likely to occur in 1 or 2 places in Kerala October 3 to October 6. Extremely heavy rain (21 cm and above in 24 hours) is likely to occur in 1 or 2 places on October 7.
