Though last year the Southern districts of Kerala faced the brunt of nature's fury, this time around it is the northern parts of the state which are at the receiving end of the monsoon onslaught.

Floods and torrential rains in Kerala have left as many as 72 people dead. The NDRF are working round the clock in rescue operations. The situation in Karnataka remains grim and those living close to dams have been relocated. 

Hundreds have lost their lives and thousands have been displaced owing to torrential rains and floods across India. With rains predicted to worsen in the coming days, the government has ordered military teams to form rescue units.
