US President Donald Trump has made it clear that his offer to mediate between India and Pakistan on the matter of Kashmir was not on the table any longer. India's ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, said that America's decades-old policy on Kashmir has been no mediation but to encourage India and Pakistan to resolve their differences bilaterally.

Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has sought the opposition parties in Pakistan to unite over the issue of Kashmir. Qureshi was addressing the media in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir where he celebrated Eid al-Adha.

Actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth was slammed by the Congress in Tamil Nadu for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah. Rajinikanth had compared PM Modi and Amit Shah to Lord Krishna and Arjuna after the abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
