In a grand event, JD(S) national president Deve Gowda launched his grandson Nikhil Kumaraswamy into politics. Nikhil, the son of Karnataka chief minister Kumaraswamy was also officially declared as the JD(S) candidate for Mandya Lok Sabha seat
 

DK Shivakumar tried to convene a meeting with Mandya Congress leaders to convince them to support the JD(S) candidate and not Sumalatha Ambareesh. However, most of them gave the meeting a miss.

JD(S) candidate Madhu Bangarappa contested against BJP's BY Raghavendra in Shivamogga by-election in Karnataka and lost by over 45,000 votes. JD(S) considers the margin thin and is all set to field him again in the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Shivamogga.

Ramanagara JD(S) candidate, Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy's wife Anitha Kumaswamy paid a visit to Kampanahalli village Koti Anjenayaswamy temple; Yeddyurappa along with son and candidate from Shivamogga visited Hucharaya Swamy temple.
