Isro Chief K Sivan  

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to insert the spacecraft into a lunar orbit on August 20. Following this, there will be further four orbit manoeuvres to make the spacecraft enter into its final orbit passing over the lunar poles at a distance of about 100 km from the moon's surface.

Chandrayaan-2 mission had to be aborted on July 15 due to technical snag. ISRO chief K Sivan has confirmed that glitches have been rectified and the mission Moon is all set to take off.

ISRO chief K Sivan also announced that India will not join the International Space Station. After Chnadrayaan-2, ISRO will launch another mission to the Sun and later to Venus, he said.

 

ISRO chief K Sivan on Friday, while talking about Gaganyaan, “The inital training for Gaganyaan will be done in India and advanced training maybe in Russia. Women astronauts will be there on the team. That's our aim” 

The work in this regard has already begun as the tender for first phase of work has been invited. The contract is expected to be finalised by the end of September.
