The CBI arrested 74-year-old Congress leader P Chidambaram on August 21 in connection with INX media case
 

The Enforcement Directorate has said that former finance minister P Chidambaram need not  be arrested in the money laundering case. Chidambaram is currently lodged in Tihar jail for the INX media case.

Congress leader P Chidambaram asked his family members to tweet on his behalf while he is lodged in the Tihar jail for the INX media corruption case. The veteran Congress leader said people asked him why he had been the only person to be arrested, but he had no answers to such questions.
 

Former finance minister P Chidambaram spent his first night in Tihar jail cell on Thursday. A Delhi court has sent him to two-week judicial custody in the INX Media case. Nephew of Kamal Nath, Ratul Puri is also lodged in the Tihar jail for the AgustaWestland case. 

Delhi court has directed to send Chidambaram to Tihar jail till September 19 in INX Media corruption case. However, both Chidambaram and Karti have been granted bail in Aircel Maxis case.
 

The Supreme Court has rejected Congress leader P Chidambaram’s anticipatory bail on the lines that it would ‘hamper probe’. The top court had said that anticipatory bail must be exercised sparingly in cases of economic offences.
