Sri Lanka has announced visa-free entry for citizens of 35 countries, including India, the UK, and the USA. This allows Indians to stay in Sri Lanka for 60 days without a visa, starting from October 1, 2024, for a period of six months.

According to online travel service platforms Airbnb and Make My Trip, there has been a 340 percent increase in the number of visitors searching for top travel plans on their websites.

Indonesia initiated this project under the leadership of Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno to implement the free visa programme before the government change in October 2024. The Indonesian government will offer free visa entry to travellers from India and 19 other countries, aiming to boost tourism and revive its economy.

Sri Lanka Tourism Minister John Amaratunga presented a Ramayana Tourism Circuit at the Sri Lanka Tourism Roadshow organised here on Friday by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI), along with the Sri Lankan Tourism Promotion Bureau.
