The incident happened in Sulvadi village in Charamajanagar district, Karnataka, during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the gopura, the monumental entrance tower of the temple. The devotees were distributed rice bath as prasad. A few minutes later several devotees not only vomited but also complained of diarrhoea.

On Friday morning, the prasad was distributed after a puja at the Maramma temple. Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said the principal secretary and commissioner have instructed district health officials of Mandya and Mysore to provide all possible help.

The car did not have any major damage. The driver too was safe without any injuries. But the bike rider is paying for the mistake committed by the car driver.
