Heavy rainfall is likely to hit the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Kerala registered more than 64.11% voter turnout in the first eight hours of polling. One of the highest voter turnouts was recorded in Wayanad with 67.35 %.

 

Several cars and buses were damaged after a landslide, which was reported during the heavy rainfall in Ooty.

Ponneri and Cholavaram in Tiruvallur district recorded 13 cm and 8 cm, respectively, followed by Kelambakkam (Kancheepuram) at 7 cm.

Cyclone Gaja is fast approaching to make landfall along Tamil Nadu coast. People are already witnessing heavy winds and rainfall.

In a few hours, heavy rainfall is likely to start in Tamil Nadu and Cyclone Gaja is expected to touchdown the coast by evening.

Rain is predicted in view of the formation of a cyclonic circulation over north Bangladesh and neighbourhood , which is likely to take shape of a low pressure soon, a special bulletin of the IMD said.

The cyclone threw normal life out of gear as heavy to very heavy rains started lashing the two districts since late Wednesday night. Eight people were killed in different storm-related incidents.

Cyclone Titli is centred about 510 km southeast of Gopalpur and will cross Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coast between Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam on Thursday morning

The Ramnathswamy temple in Rameshwaram witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday leaving many devotees and children trapped inside the temple

The bus services to and from Tamil Nadu have been put on hold due to the heavy rainfall that will hit the state 

 Kerala will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for the next five days and a district wise warning has been issued in this regard
