Under Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the beneficiaries receive free medical treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh. This initiative also covers a wide range of serious diseases and surgeries.

Matilda Kullu comes from a small village of Odisha. She started off working as an Asha worker to make the ends meet, but soon realized a bigger purpose. She has educated local villagers about proper medical treatment and has been awarded with several awards for her contributions.

There are ample government health schemes and facilities available for them, especially at government hospitals in Karnataka.

In 2017, Narendra Modi launched Pradhanmantri Vaya Vandana Yojana — a pension scheme subsidised by the government. Senior citizens can opt for pension on a monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual basis under this scheme, which has a guaranteed rate of return of 8 per cent per annum for ten years.
