Bill Gates recently had a meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and discussed the elimination of sickle cell anaemia from the nation. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the private sector are coming together to create affordable anaemia treatment for national and global treatments. During G20 PM Modi launched National Sickle Cell Anemia Elimination Mission which aims to eliminate sickle cell anemia in India by 2047.

"I would like to request everyone to remember and follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour like wearing masks and following social distancing. These are important for health," Vardhan told reporters.
