The Catholic Church told the media that rape-accused Franco Mulakkal features in the 2019 calendar because he is still a bishop even though there is a case against him

While Franco Mulakkal in Punjab has been stating that the five nuns, who have been levelling accusations against him, would apologise during Christmas, another clergy man claims the rape-accused has pushed the church into trouble with this case.

 

The key witness to the ongoing Kerala nun rape case, Fr Kuriakose Kattuthara, was found dead in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Monday.

“I am a law-abiding person and have cooperated with the police. I will continue to cooperate with the police and justice will be delivered,” former bishop Franco Mulakkal, accused in the Kerala nun rape case, said to the media.

There are severe, strict conditions included in the bail granted to Franco Mulakkal, accused of raping a nun. The most critical one is to not enter Kerala 

Five nuns had protested near the Kerala high court at Kochi for 13 days, demanding the arrest of the bishop, who was accused of repeatedly raping a nun
 

The National Commission for Women (NCW) had earlier asked Kerala MLA PC George to appear before it on Thursday. But, his counsel came on his behalf and stated that the MLA could not present himself due to an unavoidable circumstance.

The senior Catholic priest is facing allegations of raping the nun repeatedly between 2014 and 2016 and was arrested in Tripunithura on September 21 after three days of questioning. 

The arrest of the high profile religious leader came 87 days after a nun filed a complaint of rape and sexual harassment in Kerala. 

The nun, who was allegedly abused by Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal, on Tuesday, lodged a complaint against Kerala MLA PC George for using vulgar terms (prostitute) against her at a press conference recently.
