In the heavy rains in Kerala, a total of seven fishermen went missing a few days ago. Four among them have returned and the other fishermen are yet to be found
 

Seven fishermen out of the eight who ventured into the sea from Vizhinjam and Neendakkara were reported missing. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned fishermen against venturing out to sea due to the presence of strong winds from the north-westerly direction reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph.
 

The eight fishermen from Rameswaram and Pamban coastal area in Tamil Nadu, were stranded on an island near Sri Lanka. They were later detained by the Sri Lanka Navy.

A cargo ship that is waiting for the Pamban bridge to open has proved to be a nuisance to fisherfolk in the locality as they are unable to park their own country boats.

The body of a fisherman was found floating at Point Calimere near Nagapattinam. Minon, 41 had disregarded weather warning and ventured out into the sea on July 4.

The fisheries department also said that they would cancel the subsidised diesel to the fishermen, who ventured into the sea before the ban was lifted in Tamil Nadu.

The annual fishing ban in Tamil Nadu came into force on April 15 to increase stock of fish in the sea. Fishermen were seen gearing up to venture into the ocean as the ban will be lifted on June 14 midnight.
