Voting in the Northeast began at 21,585 polling stations including 9,574 booths in Assam, 2,201 in Arunachal Pradesh, 3,167 in Meghalaya, 2,227 in Nagaland, 1,175 in Mizoram, 1,679 in Tripura and 1,562 in Manipur

Just before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections which will start on April 11, MyNation tried to gauge the pulse of traders in Meerut, a key Lok Sabha constituency of western Uttar Pradesh. Traders were asked questions about the issues and problems they are facing.

J Alexander, former Karnataka minister, resigned from the Congress expressing his disappointment with the party. He said that Christian leaders were not given an opportunity in the Lok Sabha seat allocation. 

A total of 362 candidates have filed their nominations in Karnataka in the first phase, out of which 337 are men and 25 are women candidates. Bengaluru North has highest number of candidates in Karnataka - 40 and Hassan has the least - 13 candidates.
