Election Commission  

 In a communique to the Cabinet Secretariat, the Election Commission said the model code will apply to the caretaker state government as well as the central government in matters relating to that particular state.

The verdict was pronounced on a batch of pleas raising a question whether lawmakers facing criminal trial can be disqualified from contesting elections at the stage of framing of charges against them

The Election Commission is holding polling booth-wise revision and verification of electoral rolls in 32,574 polling stations and booth level officers were made available for addressing issues related to the voters' list (on Saturday and Sunday)

There is heightened speculation in political circles that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is all set to recommend dissolution of the House

According to the Election Commission, an EVM, which includes a control unit, a ballot unit and a VVPAT, costs about Rs 33,200 and has a shelf life of 15 years
