Durga Puja  

Clad in dhoti, Pranab Mukherjee chanted hymns before the idol on the second day of the four-day Durga Puja as the devotees repeated the shlokas and offered floral offerings to Goddess Durga.

The Hindutva group argued that as Durga puja falls during the same time as Navratri — a nine-day festival where people fast and abstain from having vegetarian food — the advertisement is an insult to their region

While many within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are surprised with this step, sources say Mamata will be consciously seen celebrating Durga Puja at multiple venues this year to change her image in Bengal where Hindutva outfits have grown in stature in recent years.
