The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Jagan Mohan, has taken a decision to rename Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar Awards to YSR Vidya Puraskaras

APJ Abdul Kalam was born on Oct 15, 1931, on his 88th birth anniversary we take a walk down memory lane and honour the People’s President for his contributions in the field of science and technology. 

On Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's 88th birth anniversary, we not only salute this visionary’s contribution to our great nation, but also thank him for nurturing, guiding and inspiring India’s ‘Missile Woman’ – Dr Tessy Thomas.
 

In 2010, the United Nations decided to recognise Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's birth date (October 15) as World Student Day.

Tamil Nadu chief minister K Palaniswami honoured chief of ISRO, K Sivan with the honourable Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. The Kalam award is to honour those who work for promoting scientific growth, humanities and students' welfare and the awardees should hail from Tamil Nadu.
 

Indian Space Research Organisation chairman Kailasavadivoo Sivan was honoured with the prestigious Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Award for his relentless contribution in the field of science at technology. K Sivan led ISRO's successful launch of Chandrayaan-2 mission recently.
 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also said that former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam would have been happy about the recent success of Mission Shakti, the A-SAT missile test guided by "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas."
