The DMK and Congress are fighting it over the Nanguneri by-election. The by-election is necessitated because the sitting MLA, H Vasanthakumar of the Congress has resigned after he was elected as the MP from Kanyakumari constituency.

The Congress is facing a tough time in the state of Tamil Nadu. Recently, senior DMK leader from Trichy and former Minister KN Nehru, speaking at a meeting, said that the DMK should go it alone in the forthcoming local body elections in the State.

The AIADMK led the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu, only to face defeat as the DMK-led Congress walked away with 38 of the 39 seats. Interestingly, the AIADMK didn’t make it to PM Modi’s Cabinet either.

 

With just a few days left for the announcement of results for the Lok Sabha elections, here are the exit polls. Looks like the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu may face a setback, as the DMK-Congress alliance may have an edge, this time.

When the AIADMK is claiming it is making progress in talks with the DMDK, the latter rushed to join the DMK at the last moment. The DMK has however firmly shut its doors to the Vijayakanth-led party.

Looks like DMDK’s alliance with the AIADMK turned out to be sour grapes and the party is now looking to join hands with the DMK-Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu. The official announcement is yet to be made along with the number of seats allotted to them.
