Despite the lead taken by Congress, the BJP felt its victory was satisfactory as it won with majority in seven districts including the coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

 The health department has issued warning to five districts in Kerala regarding leptospirosis, following the floods.  While 25 cases of leptospirosis have been confirmed in the State so far, doctors said not all cases were a consequence of the floods.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) continued its rescue operations in flood-hit Kerala. IAF’s Mi-17 helicopters have airlifted people who were stranded. IAF said it was committed in defence of skies and saving precious lives on ground. So far IAF pilots have rescued several people from various districts of Kerala.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has withdrawn red alert from all 14 districts of Kerala. This is the first time since August 9 when red alert has been withdrawn from the entire state

As the flood situation in Kerala continues to worsen, the Indian Railways provided packaged drinking water to all the flood-affected districts in the southern State.
