Reacting to Karnataka political crisis, farmers from Kolar put masks of Karnataka MLAs to dogs and pigs and flung cow dung on the posters of MLAs. They demanded President's rule in the state.

Four Tamil Nadu seats that fell vacant due to the disqualification of MLAs and the death of a sitting MLA will now be in the by-poll race. The Election Commission of India has announced the dates of election for these constituencies as May 19. Along with these four constituencies, Panaji (Goa) and Kundgol (Karnataka) will also witness by-elections.

The Congress too moved the Election Commission seeking disqualification of the BJP president Amit Shah's nomination paper alleging that he concealed facts. Shah is fighting the Lok Sabha elections from Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat. 

 

 

 

Siddaramaiah said that anti-defection law applies to Umesh Jadhav and the matter of his disqualification from MLA post has not been finalised yet.

On Wednesday, Dhinakaran had said in Madurai that the 18 disqualified MLAs will not appeal against the Madras high court verdict upholding their disqualification, as decided by them originally, but will face the elections, which was seen as a U-turn by his critics.

With the verdict upholding the disqualification, by-elections are all set to happen on all the seats that would be vacant. This will be a big test for the AIADMK government, especially after the demise of J Jayalalithaa in December 2016
