Prices of petrol and diesel have been on the rise since mid-August, rising almost every day due to a combination of a drop in the dollar-rupee and rise in crude oil prices

In Karnataka, petrol is cheaper by Rs 2.93 and diesel by Rs 5.07 than Kerala. In fact, upper Talapady falls under Kerala, where the petrol diesel price is Rs 85.22 and Rs 78.80 respectively but in Karnataka, it is Rs 82.29 and Rs 73.73.

 
 

Maharashtra's VAT rate is 39%, Karnataka's stands at 30.28% and Delhi 27%. Mumbai, therefore, has the highest price for petrol since State VAT is at 39.12%.
