Devotees had gathered to perform pooja at a temple in Trichy. However it turned into a tragedy after seven people died in a stampede. 10 others were rushed to a nearby hospital for injuries.

The Sabarimala Karma Samithi leaders urged to end the harassment of its activists in the name of breach of law and order. Regarding this protest, the LDF and UDF have accused the Sabarimala Karma Samithi of violating the model code of conduct during Lok Sabha election.

The Ayyappa devotees have taken a new challenge in Kerala to protect Sabarimala. They have decided to vote for the party that will openly support Sabarimala and preserve the Ayyappa shrine. 
 

Ayyappa devotees have been staging protests since October last year with an intention to preserve the tradition. With Lok Sabha election nearing, they have come up with a new strategy that they will vote for only those leaders, who will preserve their Sabarimala.

Amid high controversy, the Sabarimala temple will open its doors to devotees on March 11. During the 10-day annual festival, the shrine will have a gold-plated door installed. 

Devotees were crossing the pond of fiery coal at Ekareshwar temple in Suryapet district, Telangana, when they fell inside while carrying Shiva-Parvathi idols on Maha Shivaratri.

Sabarimala turned into a battlefield after the Supreme Court verdict on September 28, 2018. Ayyappa devotees question Kerala chief minister as to why he doesn't show any interest towards River Pamba near the holy shrine while he supports the verdict.
 

The Sabarimala shrine is opening on February 12 for Kumba puja. Meanwhile, Pathanamthitta deputy superintendent of police has submitted a report to the director general of police seeking to impose Section 144 at the temple premises.
 

NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair said that CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has no right to criticise them for standing with the devotees with respect to the Sabarimala issue. 
 

A total of 49 review petitions have been brought before the Supreme Court. The petitioners have also said that the Sabarimala verdict has "legal errors" and the assumption of the temple practice being based on notions of menstrual impurity is 'factually erroneous'.
