Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran in Kerala said Sabarimala was not a place for activism and the LDF government would not support those who make announcements about entering the hill shrine for the sake of publicity

Kerala Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran had sought clarification from the board following allegations about the irregularities in gold. 
 

After a fake report that said 51 women entered Sabarimala temple, the numbers were revised to 17. However, in his latest statement, Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran says only two women entered the shrine.

 
 

The Kerala government did not want women to enter Sabarimala temple, said Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran. The government cannot say it could not implement the SC order, he said.

 
 

On December 23, 11 of Tamil Nadu’s Manithi team’s women had to return following huge protests at Sabarimala. Now, two women wanted to enter the shrine despite huge protests at Chandranandan Road. The police and the Devaswom minister are trying to get the women back to a safe place.

Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran said that the UDF created problems when the Kerala Assembly session began because they have not yet recovered from the ‘shameful stand’ that they have taken over the Sabarimala issue.
 

Devaswom ministers from south Indian states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry were invited to the meeting.  
 

The Devaswom minister had suggested amendments during the proceedings of the House that the word ‘Hindu’ must be removed from Section 29(2) while appointing Devaswom commissioner.

Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran stressed on the fact that activists, who intend to make a political point, have no place in Sabarimala. And thus the government need not protect such people, he said.
