Delhi Air Pollution  

As the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority has declared a public health emergency in the national capital in view of the abysmal air quality index, the experts feel that people should take certain precautions to protect their health.

Air pollution in Delhi has worsened and the Supreme Court panel has declared a public emergency in the region. The harmful effects of air pollution has been simplified by Supriya Krishnamurthy on MyNation. 
 

Delhi Air quality severe as an AQI between 0-50 is considered 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor' and 401-500 'severe'. Above 500 falls in the 'severe plus' category. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is on a visit to India, expressed concern over the air quality in Delhi. 

'The Delhi government will forthwith deposit a sum of Rs 25 crore towards the cost of damage to the environment with the CPCB for restoration of the damage. We further direct that on failure to comply with this order, the Delhi government may be required to deposit at least Rs 10 crore per month till the order of this tribunal is fully executed,' the Bench said

In Punjab, the number of recorded incidents rose to 42,126 till November 11, compared with 42,051 in the same period of 2017. In Haryana, 7,454 incidents were reported so far, compared with 9,508 in 2017.

The air quality in the area is expected to reach its worst because of toxic fumes from stubble burning in parts of Punjab and Haryana that are expected to gush into Delhi, coupled with Diwali and other seasonal factors.

Union minister Harshvardhan said that the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has constituted a 41-member team, which will continuously monitor the air pollution levels and report to the board
