In a first, defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday (June 3) visited Siachen Glacier which is the world's highest battlefield. He also interacted with Army personnel and paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. In a series of tweets, Rajnath praised the troops for performing their duty with great courage despite hostile territory.

As the defence minister, Singh will face the challenge of strengthening the combat capabilities of the Army, Navy and the Air Force due to changing regional security matrix and geo-political dynamics

The Army veterans joined the party in presence of the defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who said that induction of such senior ex-servicemen who have served the nation will benefit the BJP

Professor of peace and conflict research at Uppsala University Ashok Swain took to Twitter to call Parrikar, who was also the defence minister of the country, a bigot. He also said, “If anybody expects me to be nice to a bigot, just forget it.”
