The number of tourists who visited the Statue of Unity in Kevadia in three months from November 2018 to January 2019 was 7,81,349 as against the yearly average of 8,22,009 tourists visiting Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadia in the past five years

The body of the elephant has been retrieved from the dam in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu. The forest department has planned to bury the elephant near the dam, after the postmortem.

Fresh violence erupted in Kerala after news of Sasikala from Sri Lanka climbing the 18 steps and entering Sabarimala surfaced. The ongoing Sabarimala protest that witnessed a sea of devotees coming in support to save the age-old tradition, took an intense turn after two women entered the Sabarimala temple. The protests also took a toll on Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation as 92 buses were stopped resulting in 10.16 revenue loss.
