According to the meteorological department, winds are blowing at 175 kmph in Odisha, and are expected to reach 275 kmph. Fani caused the most damage in Puri and Bhubaneswar

 Cyclone Fani hit Odisha. Strong winds and heavy rain witnessed in Bhubaneswar and Puri. Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal too witnessed strong winds in parts of the coastal areas. Students of the college in Mumbai pelted stones at the team of Rajinikanth's Darbar. Filmmaker AR Murugadoss complained to the college management and is contemplating a change in location.

Bollywood celebrities like Abhishek Bachchan, Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia and more took to social media to sent out prayers for people affected by Cyclone Fani.

The Prime Minister's Office has distributed work among the ministries. After a meeting with Modi, the Cabinet secretary has been asked to be on their toes to help the state governments and the Central government to ensure better coordination.
 

Fani, to be more precise, is a tropical storm, consisting of a large scale air mass rotating around a strong centre of low atmospheric pressure.

To take the required safety measures, the Odisha government has evacuated more than 11 lakh people from the coastal areas.

It is reportedly said that the storm is expected to move north-westwards and gradually weaken as it reaches Bengal by Saturday morning.

The extremely severe cyclonic storm 'Fani' made landfall in Odisha on Friday, with a wind speed of between 170-180 km per hour. Heavy rainfall and gusty winds are expected not only in Odisha, but also in Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and parts of Tamil Nadu.
