Every year on February 28, National Science Day is celebrated to honor the discovery of the "Raman Effect" and to increase public understanding of the value of science and how it may enhance human welfare.

Dr. V Shanta, Sir CV Raman's grand niece, has been at the forefront of finding affordable cancer care in India for over six decades now.  Today on National Cancer Awareness Day that also happens to be the day Sir CV Raman was born, we take a look at her journey so far.

Dr Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman known as CV Raman was born on November 7, 1888 in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli. Raman was a bright child and went on to become a brighter scientist. The contributions of this great scientist has been immense and on his birth anniversary, let’s take a look at them in his honour.
