Anitha Kumaraswamy will be the party candidate to contest from Karnataka's Ramanagara constituency for the upcoming by-poll elections. Anitha is HD Kumaraswamy’s wife and JD(S) faces the fall of encouraging dynasty politics.

In 2008, Anitha Kumaraswamy had won the Karnataka Assembly election from Madhugiri in Tumakuru, and in 2012 elections.

'Today all our MLAs, MLCs, district president and core committee have decided that this time for Shivamogga's Lok Sabha constituency, our BY Raghavendra will be the candidate,' said  Karnataka BJP leader KS Eshwarappa.

Congress and JD(S) claim that with Ananth Kumar being unwell, his wife may contest from Bengaluru south for 2019 Lok Sabha election. BJP leaders say that Ananth Kumar is doing better and is healthy. He will only contest and win.
 

TDP leaders Kidari Sarveswara and Siveri Soma were shot dead from point-blank range while attending a programme in their constituency.

 BJP MLA was heard expressing that he would "kidnap" a girl if a boy liked her, even if it was against her consent. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena put up posters depicting Ram Kadam as Ravan outside Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' residence and in the MLA's constituency Ghatkopar. Kadam expressed regret over his remarks that he had made at a 'dahi handi' event at his Ghatkopar assembly constituency on Monday night.

 

'Had I been B team I would not be contesting election from Rajnandgaon (the chief minister's constituency). Had I been B team, I would not have faced a baseless case of murder. There should not be a false case of dacoity against me. My son faced charges of hatching a conspiracy to murder. Had I been B team this all would not have happened,' the former CM of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi said
