Colombo Church Blasts  

Nine suicide bombers, believed to be the members of a local Islamist extremist group National Thowheed Jamath (NTJ), carried out a series of devastating blasts that tore through three churches and three luxury hotels.

Defence minister of Sri Lanka, Ruwan Wijewardene addressed the media about the progress made in identifying the extremists that wreaked havoc in the island country. The death toll has touched 359 of which 39 are foreigners.

 

The Easter Sunday blasts across Sri Lanka have taken the lives of at least 359 people and injured over 500 others. The Special Task Force carried out a controlled explosion near Savoy Cinema in Colombo after a vehicle that was found abandoned came under their suspicion.
