Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat was on Monday (December 30) announced as the first-ever Chief of Defence Staff. He will now continue to serve till March 2022 as the CDS where his primary role would be to create synergy in operations and finances of the three services.

Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat is set to become India's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The Army chief was named the CDS a day before he was set to retire from the service after completing a full three-year term as the Chief of Army Staff.Soon after seven personnel were caught for allegedly leaking sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence agencies, the Indian Navy has banned the use of social media at certain locations.
