In separate incidents, nine people died near polling booths while waiting for their turn to cast their vote in Kerala for the Lok Sabha election. The state has registered a voter turnout of 77.68%, according to the figures released by the Election Commission.

Ayyappan Pillai is one of the oldest voters in Kerala. His family members accompanied him to the polling booth to ensure he exercised his franchise this Lok Sabha election. 

 

Anupama hails from Chikkamnyageri village in Yalaburga taluk in Koppal, Karnataka. She is currently employed as adjunct faculty in Royal University of Bhutan. She came to Koppal and cast her vote for the Lok Sabha election.

Polling officers did not have a good start to the day when they were faced with a power cut at a polling booth in Honnali. Voting began late as staff on election duty decided to use candles when there was no sign of power supply being restored.
