A series of bomb blasts on Easter Sunday rocked Sri Lanka by killing 310 people leaving more than 500 people injured, reveals a report from the police spokesperson. The country has been placed under a state of emergency as the officials aim to maintain security with required assistance during investigations into the bombings.

The nine bombings of churches, luxury hotels and other sites were Sri Lanka's deadliest violence since a devastating civil war in the South Asian island nation ended a decade ago. 

The series of blasts in Sri Lanka has left one Indian dead, among the 185. The victim has been identified as Razeena from Kerala. The Sri Lankan police have arrested seven people in connection with the blasts and stated that it looks like suicide bombing. The efforts to bring back the mortal remains of the Kerala woman are underway.

While tension has heightened in India-Pakistan relations following JeM's attack on CRPF in Pulwama and India's retaliatory bombing of terrorist camps in Balakot, the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked the BSF to update its security apparatus along the Bangladesh border as well

The police said that low-intensity crude bombs triggered by timers caused the explosions. Several people were injured in the seven bombings, while one woman lost her life.

The near-simultaneous blasts at the popular eatery Gokul Chat killed 32 people and left 47 injured, while 12 others died and 21 were injured at the open air theatre at Lumbini Park, metres away from the State secretariat in Hyderabad.
