Even as more than 2,000 people have been arrested on the charge of rioting in Sabarimala, the police have accepted the mistake of being careless with the lookout notice circulated to thanas via WhatsApp

Protesters are against the entry of women of menstruating age inside Sabarimala. They claim this is against tradition, custom, faith and belief of thousands of Ayyappa devotees.
 

The idea behind this call of boycott was depriving the state of the revenue, as the devotees believed the money was helping an atheistic government, which controls temples, rather than furthering the Hindu cause. Their strategy seems to be succeeding.

Activists and Lord Ayyappa devotees were beaten up brutally by Kerala police at Pamba near Sabarimala.

The BJP leader Shobha Surendran was arrested yesterday by the Kerala police during a protest.

A police team commanded by the IG Sreejith attempted taking woman journalist Kavitha of Mojo TV to the shrine. 30 priests of temple stopped the pooja, sat on dharna near 18 steps. Main tanthri (priest) and melshanthi are not part of this protest. 

Woman journalist Libi on Wednesday (October 17) had to be protected by the Kerala police against the angry crowd as she attempted entering Sabarimala.

Several Ayyappa devotees blocked state and national highways in various parts of Kerala to protest against the recent Supreme Court verdict on women’s entry into the temple.
