Earlier, the Indian Air Force had signed a multi-billion dollar contract with the US government and Boeing Ltd in September 2015 for 22 Apache helicopters.

On September 3, eight  US-made Apache AH-64E attack helicopters have been inducted into the IAF. The first four of the 22 helicopters was handed over to the air force by Boeing on July 27.

The Indian Air Force has inducted the AH-64 combat helicopters. These helicopters are the most advanced machines in attack and will add a lot of teeth to the IAF attack missions. 

India had signed a contract for 22 of the Apache Guardian choppers with the US in September 2015. These helicopters will come in semi-knocked down (SKD) condition, which will then be reassembled in India and will undergo a series of tests before it is inducted into the service.
