Amroha MP Danish Ali has been made the leader of the party in Lok Sabha, and Nagina MP Girish Chandra has been appointed the chief whip.

The burqa row didn't erupt for the first time this election. This April the BJP candidate from Amroha sounded an alert bell. Kanwar Singh Tanwar, BJP's sitting MP has also said the burqa-clad voters were casting fake votes.

According to the EC, the polling percentage till 6 pm was 62.10 in Nagina, 68.77 in Amroha, 62.14 in Bulandshahr, 61.25 in Hathras, 59.60 in Agra, 62.80 in Aligarh, 60.56 in Mathura, and 61.16 in Fatehpur Sikri.

The Congress replaced senior leader Rashid Alvi with Sachin Choudhary as its candidate for Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha after Alvi refused to contest the polls due to poor health.

Janata Dal-Secular leader Danish Ali on Saturday joined the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections and is likely to contest from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha.
