The AIADMK led the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu, only to face defeat as the DMK-led Congress walked away with 38 of the 39 seats. Interestingly, the AIADMK didn’t make it to PM Modi’s Cabinet either.

Although reports of the alliance in Tamil Nadu suggested that BJP President Amit Shah had stated that the alliance would be called NDA-led, the state unit of the party has come out and said that Tamil Nadu will be led by AIADMK.
